The Phoenix has this report and the Philadelphia Inquirer this one on the manual recount in the race for Pennsylvania’s 156th, on which control of the state house or representatives turns. Democrat Barbara McIlvaine Smith leads Republican Shannon Royer by 23 votes. Of the approximately 23,000 cast, 10,377 have been recounted. Nine votes are reportedly missing and a ruling is expected on 15 other challenged ballots today. A court order requires the recount to be completed by 5:00 pm on December 26, but it sounds as though it may actually get done this week.
