See here.  I was having a discussion with an eminent campaign finance lawyer the other day, when the lawyer claimed that the seeds for campaign finance laws’ destruction were planted in 2002 by reformers’ and Congressional overreaching in McCain-Feingold.

I expressed disagreement.  I said the seeds of campaign finance law’s destruction came in 2005, when Justice Alito replaced Justice O’Connor.
