Since 2011, the Election Law Blog has been hosted by UCI Law, run out of the law school’s IT department with the assistance of the Office of Information Technology at UC Irvine. The law school’s IT department has been headed by Patty Furukawa since before I started teaching at UCI, and in the past few years Kristine McGuire has been the point person for technical aspects of the blog. It was Kristine who undertook the major redesign of the blog, bringing it from what one commentator called a “MySpace 1995” page to the sleek, functional, and pleasing page that it is today.
Yes, writing the content for ELB is a lot of work. But so much happens behind the scenes to get that content to you in an efficient and beautiful way. The same is true for the Election Law and Legislation listservs, my book-related web pages, and all the events we have done from the Supreme Court term in review annual events to the virtual events for the Fair Elections and Free Speech Center.
With my leaving UCI at the end of the month, I just wanted to offer my gratitude to Patty, Kristine, and the UCI Law and UC Irvine staff for all they have done to bring important democracy-related content to you. It really does take a village to do something on this scale, and I’m profoundly grateful.
UCI handed off the reins on ELB to UCLA yesterday, where I will begin July 1. Both teams have been professional, friendly, efficient, and transparent. I’m grateful, and ELB readers should be too. Thank you!
