BNA Money and Politics Report offers this report ($), which begins: “A federal district court ruled March 29 that a North Carolina law requiring an anti-abortion organization to register as a political action committee and obey contribution limits violates the First Amendment (North Carolina Right to Life, Inc. v. Leake, E.D. N.C., No. 5:99-798, 3/29/2007).” If anyone has a link to the opinion, please send it along.
UPDATE: I have posted the opinion here. Thanks to a few readers who sent it to me. Around page 20 there is an interesting discussion of whether it is constitutional to limit contributions to independent expenditure committees, an issue relevant in the debate on the federal level regarding 527s.
