Is the Senate fight over judicial appointments of staunch conservatives really driven by abortion providers’ desire to make a financial profit?

This is the incredible claim made here by Manuel Miranda, the former GOP Senate staffer who has now resigned in the face of evidence that he had accessed without permission thousands of pages of Democratic Senate Judiciary Commitee staff letters and memoranda. From the article: “‘The abortion clinics’ lobby is an industry as large as any industry that lobbies in Washington and, when combined with the single-mindedness of trial lawyers in trying to obtain a particular kind of judge, the enormity of the money that is behind the Democratic push is astounding and shocking,’ he added.” I guess Miranda agrees with the Supreme Court majority in the McConnell case that large donors “call the tune” in Washington. I’d be interested in seeing just how much abortion providers have been donating to Democrats on the commiteee. My guess: not much.
