President Bush is pushing the Senate for a line item veto (Washington Post). Meanwhile, the NY Times reports that members of the Senate Judiciary Committee are upset over the President’suse of signing statements to “to revise or ignore more than 750 laws enacted since he became president.” The Boston Globe, which first broke this story, reports that “Senate Judiciary Committee chairman, Arlen Specter, said yesterday that he is ‘seriously considering’ filing legislation to give Congress legal standing to sue President Bush over his use of signing statements to reserve the right to bypass laws.”
