The AP reports: “A federal court said Friday that it would not delay Texas’ primary elections and ordered the state to temporarily use political maps drawn by the Legislature while the judges sort out a complex lawsuit.” The court also allowed plaintiffs to amend their lawsuit to include a claim to bail in Texas under Section 3 of the Voting Rights Act, and rejected a motion to dismiss claims against 2011 maps on mootness grounds. Texas Redistricting & Election Law has analysis of the rulings and their consequences here and here, along with links to the orders.
