Conservative Efforts to Re-shape School Boards

Local elections obviously matter a great deal too: “Republican groups including the 1776 Project PAC, which steered millions of dollars into local school races this year amid predictions of a red wave.” AP News reports on the lay of the land with school board elections one week after Election Day. This is a quintessential glass half full? or half empty report? They lost 70 percent of their races this year. But they won 30 percent of them.

These groups “demand[] transparency around teaching but also include[] a wide range of cultural stances, calling for schools to remove certain books dealing with race or sexuality, for example, and an end to history lessons that aren’t ‘patriotic.'”
