“The 3 Types of Election-Denying Republicans Running for Secretary of State”

In a new opinion piece, Chris Geidner cautions that the risks from 2020 election-deniers running for key election positions extends to those who may be elected in solidly Republican states and those who will loose this November in solidly Democratic States.

“Election-denying candidates in very red states aren’t getting as much attention now, but they likely will come January, when they are officeholders. They will help set policies in their states — many of which will also have Republican-led legislatures and governors — where extremist ideas could become law.”

In states where such candidates lose in November, they will still have sown seeds of doubt about the integrity of our election systems–seed that will grow and shape public discourse on elections, voting, and reforms, like same-day registration or permissive absentee voting.
