BREAKING: Ohio Supreme Court, 4-3, invalidates state’s congressional map (but not for this fall)

Here’s the decision. Note: this decision will not affect this year’s elections. Here’s the Columbus Dispatch’s report: “The map struck down by the Ohio Supreme Court will be used in the November elections, however, because candidates were selected in the May primary using these districts.” Gongwer News Service, in its email alert, likewise says: “The Ohio Supreme Court on Tuesday struck down the state’s congressional maps, although the districts will remain in place for this year’s election.”

(As one of my Election Law at Ohio State colleagues helpfully reminded me, the Amended Complaint in the Ohio Supreme Court says that plaintiffs are not seeking relief for this year’s election.)
