But maybe, like the prior demagogue Joe McCarthy, Trump is finally losing some altitude as a result of the hearings. As attacks on opponents seem more and more desperate, the audience that supports them gets smaller and smaller. We will have to see if the analogy holds on the way down, as it has (unfortunately) on the way up.
