Out of the frying pan, from Cleveland.com:
A federal court is considering whether to order Ohio to trim its early voting period for the May 3 primary election to buy more time for the state’s stalled redistricting efforts.
During a court hearing at the U.S. District Courthouse in Columbus on Friday, a panel of three federal judges asked Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose, the state’s top elections official, to explain what legal implications there would be if the federal court were to trim early voting, which is supposed to begin on April 5. It’s also the date that ballots are supposed to be mailed to military and other overseas voters under the terms of a deal the state struck with the U.S. Defense Department last week.
LaRose has until Monday evening to answer the judges’ question.
