North Carolina Supreme Court Halts Candidate Filing (Again)

In an order this evening, the North Carolina Supreme Court delayed the state’s primary until May 17, 2022, halted candidate filing, and ordered the trial court to reach a ruling on the merits of the plaintiffs’ redistricting claims by mid-January. This is the necessary first step for the state supreme court to reject the legislative leaders’ almost insulting argument that they didn’t consider partisanship when crafting their most recent gerrymanders.
