Ohio’s Maps Challenged in State Court

The ACLU, the League of Women Voters of Ohio, and the A. Philip Randolph Institute are challenging Ohio’s new Republican-drawn congressional map as an illegal gerrymander. The suit filed with the Ohio Supreme Court yesterday argues that the adopted maps violate the Ohio Constitution by “unduly” favoring the Republican Party. The current “maps could award Republicans 67% to 80% of Ohio’s congressional seats, compared to their 55% share of the statewide vote in recent elections, the lawsuit says.”
