Marty Lederman, Georgetown law prof and Balkinization/SCOTUSblog blogger, has been tapped to be a Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Office of Legal Counsel. I agree with Jack Balkin’s high praise of Marty. I have had the pleasure of working with Marty on a few amicus briefs involving campaign finance cases in the Supreme Court. Marty has a keen legal mind, an ability to write clearly and persuasively, and an apparent lack of need for any sleep. Marty has also been one of the most able critics of the Bush Administration’s position on detainees and torture.
The nation is lucky to have him in service to the country. Congratulations Marty.
