“Supreme Court Urged to Take ‘Soft-Money’ Campaign Finance Case”

Bloomberg BNA:

Recent Supreme Court rulings have narrowed the legal definition of corruption and cleared the way to strike down federal restrictions on “soft-money” contributions to political parties, a new court filing said (Republican Party of Louisiana v. Federal Election Commission, U.S., 16-865, brief proposing motion to dismiss or affirm filed 5/1/17).
The Supreme Court filing came in a challenge to the federal soft-money rules brought by the Republican Party of Louisiana. The high court is set to decide as soon as its May 18 conference whether to hear arguments in the case, attorney James Bopp, who filed the motion, said in a statement.
