Very interesting to watch Colbert go from a faux candidate using his show to promote a faux candidacy to a faux conservative blowhard using his show to promote his sister’s real candidacy against Mark Sanford in the South Carolina special election.  “Morning Joe” gave Colbert an opening to do this in a way which seems calculated to diffuse criticism that he’s using his media perch to promote a candidate in a way which is much like the super PACs and 501c4s which he has mocked.

He is walking a very fine line here.
