HOW OPTIMISTIC IS RICK PERRY? A 19-page packet that went out to potential bundlers yesterday from National Finance Director Margaret Lauderback included these “National Leadership Programs” – each with benefits at the Republican National Convention:

–“Upon fulfillment of their entire $500,000 fundraising pledge, participation for PATRIOTS (and their spouses) include: Co-Chair of the National Finance Committee … Invitation to special reward event … Regular reports from Campaign Leadership … Host Committee receptions at events held in home state … Your Name included on all event invitations … VIP Republican National Convention Package — Includes Hospitality Suite and VIP Reception at the Convention.”

–“Upon fulfillment of their entire $250,000 fundraising pledge, participation for ENTREPRENEURS (and their spouses) include: Membership on the National Finance Committee … Invitation to special reward event … Regular reports from Campaign Leadership … Host Committee receptions at events held in home state … Your Name included on all event invitations … VIP Republican National Convention Package — Includes Hospitality Suite and VIP Reception at the Convention.”

–“Upon fulfillment of their entire $100,000 fundraising pledge, participation for EXPLORERS (and their spouses) include: Co-Chair of your State Finance committee … Invitation to special reward event … Regular reports from Campaign Leadership … Host Committee receptions at events held in home state… Your Name included on all event invitations occurring in home state … Special event(s) at the Republican National Convention.”

–“Upon fulfillment of their entire $50,000 fundraising pledge, participation for PILOTS (and their spouses) include: Membership on your State Finance Committee … Regular reports from Campaign Leadership … Host Committee receptions at events held in home state … Special event(s) at the Republican National Convention.”

Mike Allen calls it “optimistic.”  To paraphrase the Supreme Court’s junior Justice, some people might call that chutzpah.
