Race, Voter ID, Public Opinion, and the Voting Wars

Two polls of interest today with finding that are probably related:

1. A new survey for the University of Delaware’s Center for Political Communication finds that those most likely to harbor racial resentment toward African Americans are most likely to support voter id laws.

2. A new survey reported by Pew [corrected] finds that “More than 60 percent of whites and Hispanics were confident that votes in their area were counted accurately, with just over 20 percent expressing little or no confidence. By contrast, only 44 percent of African-American respondents expressed confidence and 33 percent expressed little or no confidence.”
