“Democratic Ads Boosting Nelson in 2011 Did Not Violate Campaign Law, FEC Finds”

Bloomberg BNA: “Democratic Party ads featuring Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) that aired in 2011 did not violate campaign finance laws, the Federal Election Commission has found. Documents were released by the FEC Aug. 17 in an enforcement case—designated Matter Under Review (MUR) 6502—involving Nelson and the Nebraska Democratic Party. The case drew attention more than a year ago when Republicans first complained about the Nelson ads, but the controversy dwindled after Nelson announced he would not seek re-election to his Senate seat.”
