“FEC Plans New Guidance on Political Ads; Vote on Text-Message Contributions Delayed”

Bloomberg BNA: “The Federal Election Commission is planning to issue ‘interim guidance’ outlining disclosure requirements for political ads known as ‘electioneering communications’ following a key court decision requiring greater disclosure of donors funding such ads. Plans for the new guidelines were revealed in a document outlining FEC rulemaking priorities that was discussed at a May 24 commission meeting. The document also indicated the FEC would consider writing new regulations for electioneering communications, depending on the outcome of ongoing litigation in the case at issue, known as Van Hollen v. FEC.”
