A must-read (though subscription required).  It is so interesting reading Jeff’s piece after the result in the campaign finance cases, which does show a monolithic conservative Supreme Court.  I think the answer is that campaign finance regulation comports with all three strands of conservatism that Jeff identifies: Thomas’s Tea Party conservativism, Kennedy’s libertarianism, and the Scalia, Alito, Roberts pro-executive power/pro-business conservatism.
