An Important Development in Ohio

The Columbus Dispatch reports "Group drops challenge to Ohio's voter-ID law." But the most important part of this story isn't the headline, it is this: "An agreement reached today with Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner sets guidelines on how provisional ballots will be treated across all Ohio counties."An agreement reached today with Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner sets guidelines on how provisional ballots will be treated across all Ohio counties." The directive itself is here.

I have to wonder how adversarial this process was at this point; that is, the Secretary may have been looking for a good reason to get this directive out. But in the event of post-election disputes over Ohio's ballots, this document is going to be a key one.

As always, you can find relevant background and documents at Moritz.
