House Judiciary Committee Passes VRA Renewal and Defeats Amendments

Full House Judiciary ctte voted 33 to 1 to report H.R. 9 VRA to floor, all amendments defeated.

Amends related to sunseting 203, bailing out military base counties, shortening 203 coverage period, prohibiting re redistricting of previously precleared plans as a per se section 2 violation. [Clarification: the re-redistricting and military base amendments were withdrawn, not defeated.]
