How Times Change

The Ventura County Star reports Gallegly says He Will Seek 12th Term. A snippet: “Gallegly, 63, was elected to his current term in November after a bizarre turn of events in which he announced his intention to retire from Congress, only to later change his mind. Gallegly said in March 2006 that he would not seek re-election after being diagnosed with an undisclosed medical condition. The announcement came just hours before the deadline to file candidacy papers for the June primary. Because of election laws, Gallegly could not remove his name from the ballot. Five days later, he disclosed he had received a clean bill of health from his doctor and would re-enter the race. But, he said at the time, if he were re-elected, his 11th term would be his last.”
