“Florida Governor Is Hoping to Restore Felon Voting Rights”

The NY Times offers this report, which explains that for the Florida governor to grant blanket clemency to all felons who have finished their sentences he will have to find a second Republican official on the state board of clemency to support him. As noted yesterday, that may be a tall order.
For those who support giving ex-felons back their right to vote, this is the time for political action. As I’ve argued, especially given potential constitutional issues, legislation is likely to be more successful than litigation in this area in many cases.
