This report is now available from the Nonprofit Voter Engagement Project. A brief description: “America Goes to the Polls is a comprehensive report on voter turnout in the 2006 elections. The report charts voter turnout in midterm elections over the last 30 years. It ranks the states by total turnout as a percent of voting eligible population in 2006 and by growth in turnout over the 2002 midterms and notes the positive turnout impact in 2006 of Election Day Registration and electoral competition. The report also discusses factors underlying voter turnout and ways to improve citizen participation in elections. It profiles election reform ideas estimating their impact on voter participation and citing jurisdictions where these election practices are already at work.”
