Krugman on FL-13

You can find his column here. Following up on this PFAW release, Krugman criticizes the appointment of Alec Yasinac to audit the machinery for this election. I too expressed concern that Yasinac might be a political appointee. However, Avi Rubin, who should know completely rejects the partisan hack accuasation against Yasinac. Rubin talks about the steps Yasniac said he is taking to insure that the audit to be conducted would be fair and nonpartisan.
Krugman also comments that the evidence: “strongly suggests that the huge apparent undervote was caused by bugs in the ES&S software.” I’m wondering if that’s the conclusion drawn so far by Rubin and others who know something about how these machines work. The alternative working hypothesis, as Krugman recognizes, is poor ballot design.
UPDATE: EJ Dionne weighs in on the FL-13 race as well.
