Meanwhile BNA Money and Politics reports (paid subscription required): “The Senate Office of Public Records since 2003 has referred over 2,000 cases of possible violations of the Lobbying Disclosure Act to the Justice Department. DOJ reported, meanwhile, that it has received only 10 percent of that number of referrals and has pursued possible enforcement action in only 13 cases. The new figure of more than 2,000 referrals from the Senate office in charge of processing lobbying disclosure reports was revealed at a Senate Rules and Administration Committee hearing Feb. 7 by Sen. Christopher Dodd (D-Conn.). Senate officials had refused previously to provide an official count of LDA referrals.”
