“Supreme Court Delays Until After Election Response Deadline in Major Disclosure Case”

Bloomberg BNA: “The Supreme Court has put off until after the Nov. 6 election deciding whether to review the constitutionality of campaign finance disclosure rules for an organization that says it is focused on policy issues, not political campaigns. In an Oct. 11 order, the court extended an Oct. 12 deadline for the government to respond to a challenge of Federal Election Commission disclosure requirements. The new deadline for a response is Nov. 13. The challenge comes in a long-running case brought by an anti-abortion organization called Real Truth About Abortion (RTAA), which wanted to sponsor political ads in 2008 targeting President Obama (Real Truth About Abortion v. FEC, U.S., No. 12-311, cert. petition filed 9/10/12; 3352 Money & Politics Report, 9/20/12).”
