- Your remarks do not bode well for the Commission’s prospects. Apparently if you are not a registered Republican, you are by definition a Democrat even if you have been a decline to state your whole voting career. And apparently, if you do a nonpartisan redistricting for a liberal city, by definition you are a liberal activist who has it in for the Republicans. And apparently, even if for 20 years you have worked cooperatively with all members of the public, reaching out to Republicans, your hands are soiled with partisan dirt. This logic will clearly be applied to the Commission’s decline to state members and to any decisions they make as well. We have tried for the last 20 years not to argue about the numbers and technical services, but this may not last.
At this point, I’m going to ask the participants to take the matter out to the alley—or at least to a different venue, as interesting as this exchange has been.
