There’s been much ado about doctored political photos lately.
A few weeks ago, an Alabama mayoral candidate faked a picture in which she was ostensibly receiving an endorsement from ‘Bama football’s head coach Nick Saban (twice the coach for national championship teams, and from what I’m told, revered in the state).
Now, in the background of a Houston brouhaha, arising in part out of overheated allegations of voter registration fraud that in turn received overheated questioning, an allegation that those alleging fraud have themselves taken to Photoshop.
It’s hardly news to see photo adjustments that make candidates look more (or less) attractive. But these are alterations of content that seem to convey an objectively false message more directly. More from 2010, 2009, and (sigh) well beyond…
