A Presidential Candidate’s Decision to Take Public Financing: Who Cares?

I’ve been saying for a while that the Obama decision to back off a pledge to aggressively pursue a public financing agreement with his opponent just doesn’t register on the public’s radar screen, despite Sen. McCain’s attempt to make political hay of it.
Here’s some great confirmation from Gallup. Almost no one cares.
There’s also an interesting juxtaposition of partisan views on spending limits and public financing. Republicans are more in support of both in this election compared to Democrats. (Via The Trail blog.)
