“Russians Still Have An Open Path To U.S. Election Subversion”

An unfortunate Newsweek headline for an article about filling Homeland Security positions to assist with cyberdefense.

The federal government could certainly play a role in assisting on cybersecurity matters, and probably should do so.  But aside from the fact that federal government entities still operate even without confirmed political leadership, the headline seems to forget about state and local officials.  And what little we know about cybersecurity in the 2016 election indicates that attempted infiltration in most states failed precisely due to measures that state and local officials already had in place.
