Is the Interstate “Cross Check” Program Wrongly Disenfranchising Thousands of Voters?

That’s the claim made by Greg Palast in this extensive Al Jazeera report. I have hesitated to link to this report, because in my experience dealing with Palast’s work on Florida 2000 for my book, The Voting Wars, I was not convinced by the soundness of some of his methodology and reporting.

I hope someone else will be following up to see if the cross check program is really leading to this purge. If true, the facts in Palast’s report are very troubling, and could lead more states to consider alternative matching programs such as ERIC.

As with the controversy over the recent non-citizen voting study, I agree this merits further investigation, and at this point I’m withholding my judgment.
