“Measuring the Effects of Voter Identification Laws”

Absolute must-read from Nate Sliver on the effects of voter id laws.  It is very consistent with my conclusion in The Voting Wars.  The likely effect of such laws is likely small (around 1% or so) in a pro-Republican direction.

So Republicans are wrong to claim there is no partisan bias—and Dems tend to exaggerate the likely effects.

Does that mean such laws are harmless? No.
