Response from Intervenors in the Georgia voter-verification preclearance lawsuit

A release and filing protesting the DOJ’s decision to drop its section 5 objection and preclear Georgia’s voter verification system. The procedural posture is perhaps as intriguing as the underlying preclearance — now that the policy has been precleared, the intervenors are asking the court to use its authority under Rule 41(a)(2), allowing the court to grant dismissal of a case acknowledged as moot, to “conduct a review of the events leading to the Joint Motion to Dismiss. . . .”
